Hello. I am 15 and am looking into buying a dakota. From what I have read the dakotas seem to be the fastest trucks for the money. I could buy a cheap 5.0 mustang but they are all to common around my town. Or I could buy a honda civic, slap on a farting exhaust system, and suddenly believe that i have the fastest car at my school. However, I want to purchase a truck with a good ole american V8 to whip some japcrap-four-cylinder-butt. Because I am a teenager with a small wallet, the gen II's look like the best bet for the money. I am asking for your advice on the fastest, stock gen II dakota. Thank you for your help.

A RC, 2wd, 5.2, 5-speed w/ 3.92 gears and limited slip. Doesn't really matter if it's a Sport or a SLT, but the Sport might be a little lighter. actually the 92 and 93 318's have a few better features and a little more power but I really don't believe the 5-speed was available from the factory with the v-8 those years. Good luck finding one though, not many 5 speed's (compared to automatics), not many 2wd (compared to 4x4s), and not many v-8's (compared to V-6s), 3.55 was the more common gearing as well, and limited slip was aslo an overlooked item. Put all those options together and it was pretty much a special order that somebody made with one thing in mind, drag racing, and giving the 5.0s a run for the money. That setup is nopt only potentialy the fastest Gen II stock Dakota but the fastest stock Dakota period.

I know where you can get a 360 5speed gen 2 with ever freaking performance option out there even real viper seats for 8grand. Truck runs high 13's with horrible traction. Interested?

you could not get A 5 speed tranny in the gen 1, only from 94 up ( i think )

lackadak: the truck dodgeboy is talking about is definitely a good deal. the guy is selling it way below what it's actually worth. if i hadnt just sold my soul to the finance company for my 01 QC, i'd be calling mark for his little gem. just take a look at it (cant find a link, someone else should) and it might make you wanna come up with the extra $$.

That ones got an 8 3/4 rear in it, he used to have a page devoted to the buildup of that Dak but i just checked and the link is now dead.
If I remember correctly those are first gen Ford Lightening rims on it.
Nice Dak, thats for sure.
