Message: Nice try on that motorcycle sh!t. I don't go 125 on curvy mountainous two-lane roads, much less in MExico. But on the open and STRAIGHT stretches of I-85 north in Georgia, when there are no cars either direction for a good 3 miles, then I will open it up.
But good for you searching on the internet trying to scare me with gore.

Message: Alex, why so sensitive friend? I merely wanted to present you with a very real possibility. As I used to tell my son (who wouldn't listen to me either,) when you want to do something that's has risks then first think of the worst possible outcome. If you're ok with that possible ending, go for it. If not, maybe you want to do something else.

um, do you guys actualy meen mph as in mph.
a lot of people say mph out here, but really mean kilometers per hour. which is what im thinking
130mph would be around 210km/h.

I'm not sensitive... just toying with you. I think it's funny when people log onto a website dedicated to performance vehicles (and especially a thread dealing specifically with speeding at twice the legal limit) and then try to offer up parenting tips and life-lessons on why everyone should be safe and drive within the limits of the law, etc. I just think it's funny....

Message: C'mon .alex., there's speeding on the road and then there's incredibly stupid speeding on the road. You write well so I'm sure you're an intelligent person; surely you can see this type of thing belongs at the race track only. All it would take to separate most of this threads authors from all they hold dear is for some dumb-@ss dog to run across the road while they're performing their stunt. Just for the record I'm not against speed, I love watching it - but only at the track.

Message: Well, i not only love watching it, I love to participate, too. It would be different if I went out on the public interstates and hammered my truck on every stretch and maintained 130 for a half hour at a time and ripped back & forth from lane to lane & cut off cars & endangered old ladies & spouted devil worship from my lips as I did all that....
But I'm just talking about the occaisional burst from 80 (the average speed of traffic in the outskirts of Atlanta) up to 100 or 110 or 120. The particular day in question, I was headed to the track and I opened it up going downhill and saw 125 on the clock. I heard a pop and as I let off the gas, I turned to see my tonneau cover flying off the bed rails & up in the air like a kite in a hurricane.
125 is extreme, 100 is fairly common. Wide open spaces, good visibility, both hands on the wheel, radio off and all my attention about 1-1.5 miles down the road (minimum). I'm not changing CD's at 100 while talking on the phone to my girlfriend. That's what you're talking about (and prolly what over half the people on this thread were talking about).

Message: 115mph is the fastest i've taken my Dak. That was just with me in on some wide open highway. If I would have wrecked it would have been my problem. I've never taken my Dak to the speed limiter but presume its 118mph. I backed off when I did because of the tires I was running at the time and my suspension was pretty floaty(stock). But even now I doubt I 'd ever take my Dak over 100mph.

Message: I have a 535i with a Conforti tuned chip that'll run 155, but I only got it up to 150 and the stupid window trim flew partially off (13 yr. old car) and started slapping the side of the car so I slowed down. I thought a tire shredded cuz they're only H-rated. BTW, is $130 a good price for a single 255/50/ZR16 Eagle F1???

Message: I am really confused with some of the people who have been saying they have stock Dakota 4X4's with a 4.7L and have pushed speeds like 130 MPH,
isn't that trucks top speed somewhere between 112mph and 119mph??? I have topped my 2002 Dak, 4.7L V8 with mods, out at 190kph which is about 118mph. I am pretty sure they don't build 'em diferently for Americans, but if someone can correct me, I'd like to know, thanx!
