Subject: Dual Exhaust IP: Logged
Message: Is it worth getting a dual exhaust system without getting headers? Would there be much of a difference over stock? Considering getting a Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded dual system. Opinions?

P.S. If someone has asked this question before, don't jump all over me for asking the same question twice. I'm a newbie to this site and the searches aren't all they're cracked up to be. Thanks in advance.

Message: If you want the looks and sound then yes, don't expect a big gain in power. You may suffer a little loss in torque but no biggie.
Stop asking the same question twice! J/K

Message: Thanks for the reply.
I was going to opt for the 2.5" or 2.25" dual system so I was hoping that I wouldn't loose too much torque. As well, it's not a true dual exhaust, just dual from the muffler back.

Message: Well then you should be fine with that, I used to have a 3" in dual 2.5" out, and switched over to a single 3". I think the single is a little quicker but I did like the looks of the duals.

Message: I recently put a dual setup on mine....gutted the third cat then ran it out to a flowmaster 2 chamber, then out to 3.5" tips It sounds awesome, and looks great too. R/Truck is right, I lost a considerable amount of low end torque. I can still spin my 3.92's LSD but not like I used to, which is fine, because I needed more power in the higher R's. In the same time it took me to go from 70-80mph now I going from 70-90 it really zips up to 6000 once it gets going. The Gain in the higher R's was more than the Loss of low end torque.

Message: Well Clevite 77, I can tell you that I'm not often driving at speeds of 90mph. I really wouldn't want to lose the low end torque so I'm wondering if maybe the single 3" exit is better? You would think there wouldn't be much difference between a single 3" out and dual 2.25" out? Especially for such a short length from the muffler back. Has anyone here ever used the Dynomax Ultra Flo and if so, which model? I'm looking at the Ultra Flo Welded. The guy at the store was trying to sell me on the Dynomax Turbo... blech.

Message: I'd say do a home brew intake first, that's where you'll gain more low end power (I did) I may even go with a 71mm ported stock throttle body
Sorry to change the subject but ya have any pics Selcher?

Message: Hey Clevite 77,
I do have two pictures on the web so far of my truck and my boat. They're located at http://www.geocities.com/sugar_buzz01
Here's my one question about the home brew intake, I had a quick look this morning at where the intake on my truck is now and upon first glance, it appears that it's turned into the fender and then down to the grill. Directly infront of the filter box towards the grill there is some kind of engine cooler (grey) so that would limit the amount of air getting into the intake, no? Or would the natural air running through there be suffice? Seems to me it would be less cool air getting in than now. I may have to take a picture of it and post it for you to see what I'm talking about. You probably have no clue what I'm saying, right? heh

Aaron
