Subject: Sudden Loss of Power IP: Logged
Message: I think my 94 v8 is a lemon, I'm not even sure what size engine it has, I have no original paper work. Three weeks ago the transmision went, now I cant even climb hills, it revs but no power. Can some one suggest what I should start looking at as to the problum?

Message: How is that cat convertor? does it rattle? That can cause a loss of power among other things.

Message: If your trucks is a V8, it's a 5.2 (318) if it has the original engine. They did use 5.9's in Dakotas in '94.

Message: I am assuming you had the tranny replaced or repaired. Did you do it yourself or have a shop do it? Have you checked the fluid level? Was the right Torque converter and fluid installed is it even an automatic? Sorry for all the questions but it helps when trying to figure this out. What is your VIN# that tells you what engine you have. (I suddenly feel like Alex Trabek) It could be the engine is fine and the power is not getting from the engine to the ground.
