 Subject: 2001 Dakota Overdrive issues

I recently bought a 2001 Dodge
Dakota 4.7L quad cab. I've noticed
while driving the truck will buck
and I have no more overdrive
furthermore when I come to a stop
it's almost like I have no
transmission no torque converter
engaging. It takes very high rpms to
pull out. If I shut the truck off
completely and restart it everything
is fine. I'm pulling my hair out and
Chilton has nothing.
