Subject: 00 4.7 quad cab abs light soft pedal IP: Logged
Message: My parents have a 2000 4.7 quad cab Dakota and the abs and
brake light come on most of the time while driving and the
pedal is soft. I replaced the pads, rotors, and adjusted the rear
brakes along with vacuumed the lines and cleared codes.
Immediately after doing this the lights came back on and the
pedal is still spongy, after a few hours of research I’m
assuming it’s the abs sensor on the rear diff or the wire
harness for it. I’ve also read it could be the brake light switch
causing the dash lights or the other speed sensor on the
transmission. Would any of the sensors/switches cause a soft
pedal though? I was thinking maybe it’s the abs actuator pump
but I don’t want to spend the money on a new pump if it’s not
necessary. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Message: Also, does anyone know how many abs sensors a 00 quad
cab 4.7 2wd Dakota has? Thanks
