I HAVE A 98 CC 5 SP 5.2 WITH 4WD THINKING OF TRADING FOR A 4.7 2WD REG CAB ANYONE KNOW IF THE DIFFERENCE IN 1/4 MI TIMES IS MUCH BETTER WITH THE 2WD ????

ANY TRUCK CAN RUN FAST IF YOU PUT A LITTLE SPRAY TO HER. I HAVE A 99 REG CAB V8 2WD DAKOTA, AUTO, 3.55 POSI, BONE STOCK WITH FLOWMASTERS AND 175HP NOS KIT AND IT RAN 13.53 SMOKING THE STOCK RUBBER. YOU SHOULD SEE THE LOOK ON THE GUY IN THE MUSTANGS FACE WHEN YOU GIVE HIM SOME OF THAT OFF THE STOPLIGHT. PRICELESS.

I get about 15-16 around town, and anywhere from 16-18 normally on the highway for medium <30mi trips.... the best Ive gotten was an average of 20mpg from GA to MD, and a best of 21mpg.

Well, the 2.178 is the 60 foot time, the next number I'm not even sure. The next two are 1/8th mile time and speed. Your reaction time is what killed you on that run, but your 60ft time is pretty decent. Work on the reaction time and you'll drop significantly.

Doh! I just re-read what I posted. I actually meant to say that working on the 60 foot time will drop the 1/4 time drasticly. Must have had reaction time on the brain or something.

Actually, that is a VERY good 60' time for our trucks. I run high 13s with a best 60' of 2.227.

My 60' is only so-so. Guess slicks would really help out there. 2.25-2.29 depending on the track conditions/temp...etc. Of course, if I could shave it down a tenth of a second I might someday see 13's as well :)

Okay, Cryppie. i am formally requesting your mods.
If you are running high 13's with a 2.23 short time, then you still have potential to be waaaay into the 13's.
I am running 14.5's with my 1.92 short time. What gives?

well, i did fell the truck hook up pretty well, my tires are pretty bald, but they have traction at the track. my 1/8 mile times are good in my book but for some reason, even after mods, i cant get my 1/4 mph up. it hovers around 85-86 mph. those times were against a lightning, which KILLED me with a 13.637. not bad for a ford. i ran against two of them other was at a 13.5 - 13.4 i think.

Heh. that's cool..... I had a 1992 club cab V-6 that went hi 15's. It was fun.
Those old lightweight gen 2's really are a much better racer. More performance with less mods than the Gen 3.

2000 4.7L 5-spd....
14.19 @ 99mph...This particular run...2.3 60ft time.
14.15 @ 97mph... 2.1 60ft, but broke loose going into 3rd
14.2 @ 100.3mph...2.3 60ft
Hopefully this weekend, the weather will hold up for a "slicks" pass...(courtesy of .alex.)
Looking to get some traction, and bust off some 13's.

My bone stock truck almost broke into the 14's...just wasn't enough oomph at higher RPM with the stock intake setup. I can hit 14.5's all day long now, and It'll be lower than that real soon. No F-150 or stock Ranger can touch those times. I haven't even run slicks on my truck yet. I'm sure that will help a bit as well :)

Stock 4.7 lt QC dak, no tail gate, or spare tire, and a Magnaflow dumped. Wasn't happy with the time at all, so I guess that mod bug is starting to set in. When I'm done with it I'll be runnin 13's. That won't be for a long while though as far as money for the mods to hit that number with a Quad Cab goes.

I will be there a lot this year notchlx. I'll bring my badass '70 Bug a few times as well and destroy some serious American muscle :)
I just got a new TB today for my truck, too :) Look for better times than my 14.52 with that little addition. I am friggin stoked! Well, that and partway through the summer I'll hopefully be adding my S/C as well. That'll be a whole different story!

15 minute swap when you get to the house, then you're off cruising for the evening.
Is it raining there yet? It just started here. I'm going to check the weather out first thing in the morning, if it looks like it may hold off long enough for me to make it to Commerce and knock out a few passes, I'm gone.

Yep, I got the 70mm FASTMAN. Very pleased with Dan and how well everything went with the ordering and shipping. I broke loose at 60 MPH (after I installed it) last night when the tranny downshifted to passing gear...I was so stoked, but damn near scared sh!tless at the same time. I'm not sure if I'll be there today or not. I really got to get off my @$$ and do my taxes so I can have the install funding for my S/C later this year :) Don't worry, I'll be there all year (Silver Dollar and Commerce). We can run the Mustangs and other assorted "ricers" to their deaths...

He! He! He! Ever heard of Big Bird, Duner, or Danno? I didn't think so. These are just a few who are in the 11's. Duner's got a 4.7 too! Mine mid to low 14's with m1, k&n, duals.
