I purchased a Dakota a few months ago from a friends
grandfather. It has 188000 miles on it but still runs strong due
to him being one of the best mechanics in my small down. Just
last week I started the truck to go to work. Started the truck
while I was at work to show a coworker something I had done
to it and 4 hours later I went to start it and nothing. Starter
clicks once. Doesn't turn over. I removed the starter and had it
tested. Works fine. Installed a new starter same thing click no
turnover. Returned the new starter. Battery is perfectly fine
truck runs if I pop the clutch on it which is what I've been doing
for a week or so. I'm not sure what the problem can be I need
help. I've also checked all of the relays and fuses everything
there is good

Check to see how much voltage you're getting at the starter. You need at least 10 or 11 volts to make the starter operate.
