 Subject: 4.7 oil loss

2003 4dr dakota with 172,000 miles. I change the
oil at 4500 miles. Use Castrol oil 5w-30. Very
little oil smoke visible once and awhile. No
evidence of leaks but I have to add 3 qts between
oil changes.

I have an 04 with the same amount of mileage and i've had to add
oil between oil changes (every 10k), anywhere between 2-3 quarts.
I bought it with 60k on it, and always had to add at least 1 quart
since I've had it. I never see oil smoke or any evidence of leaks as
well.
