Subject: Hard transmission shifting IP: Logged
Message: My 2002 Dakota Quad Cab 4.7 V8 shifts hard into 2nd gear. One shop told me it was the transmission speed sensor in the differential. It may be bad or blocked by dirt and metal shavings from the pinion gear. It has the "45" transmission. Would this sensor cause hard shifting into 2nd gear?

Message: Thanks for the suggestion. I had the differential cleaned out and new lubricant and additives put in place of the milky watery lubricant. Also had the speed sensor changed out. The transmission now shifts very smoothly.
