Subject: 95 dakota 5.2 low oil pressure

Message:
oil gauge reads very low oil pressure after it gets up to temp. at idle. Does go up a little when driving. Changed oil myself about 2k miles ago and problem started about 2 months after. pennzoil 10/30. Oil change before that done by mechanic cheap oil and filter. Have driven 100's of miles at highway speed as well as stop and go in town. Oil light has not come on, it does work. No ticking or other noise, no significant oil loss not smoking. Seems to run o.k. for 95 truck with 165k miles, bought it new. Was told it is the oil pump, it has been doing this for about six months, seems like pump would have long since given up if the oil pump is the problem. I know it could have blockage on oil pump intake screen or some where else. Bought Gunk motor medic engine flush and new oil and filter but have not used it yet, don't want to cause more problems. I know another possible cause is the oil sensor. Should I pull the sensor and put a gauge on it first (have been told sensor will likely break when it is taken out)and need to be replaced, or should I flush the engine and do oil change first? Any thoughts or advice?

Put a gauge on it. The factory service manual says at idle.
Minimum 3psi and @ 3000rpm max of 60psi. Could be a few
things. Oil pressure relief valve, clogged screen, worn main or
cam bearings, etc. I've got almost 190k on my 3.9 and at hit
idle the gauge reads about 30 and cruising around 60. 10w30
oil. Bought with 19k and change oil every 5k.
