So, I have this very odd fueling issue, it might be
battery related, might not. Basically my truck
starts and runs fine. Then about 30 seconds into
driving it starts to sputter and try to stall out
when I press the pedal past a certain point. Maybe
past 30%, not sure.
If I turn the key off and right back on all symptoms
would be gone and she'd run like a beast again, for
30 more seconds. Now the battery holds enough power
to start the car over and over if it hasn't sat for
more than 10 minutes, but the longer it sits the
faster it discharges. This appears to be a power
draw to me, but nothing is on.
The pump whines a lot louder than it should as
well..

Any ideas? It was a 2.5l 5.2l swap. We moved the
pump and tank over from the donor car and we ran
braided ss lines with an in line filter..

What year is the truck?

Check the fuel pressure. You can rent/borrow one from most parts stores. It should be 49 psi.

Dakota's do not like weak batteries and often will stumble and die.

It's a 1995 with all the parts pulled from a 1995.

The fuel pressure spec that I listed is for a 2nd
gen. Not sure what it is for a '95. It could be
the fuel pump just can't supply the amount needed
above that point.

Does it have a filter you can change?
