My 2008 Dakota Laramie "bucks" between 35 and 40 mph. Over or under that it seems to run fine. Occasionally I hear whining noise when shifting into reverse. And today it died whiling idling shortly after starting. Is this serious, like transmission serious? Or could it be the throttle position sensor? Don't want to get rid of it as it only has 45,000 miles on it, but I have to be able to trust it.

I have a similar issue with my 2004 Dakota. I notice right around 40mph it seems to hesitate. Very slightly, and it hasn't been getting worse. It is very loud when switching to reverse, but more of a loud thump.

It has been several months since your post. Have you found out any solutions to your issue since you posted?
