Subject: ya changed yer plugs lately? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 02 4.7cc. I was looking at changing the plugs to the "famous" Autolites. I popped the hood to check it out and it sees the #3 & #7 plugs are directly under two pipes leading to the water pump. Has anyone changed their plugs? Do you have to move these pipes? Seems like a big pain in the a$$ just to change the plugs. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Message: Just got finished changing mine. Not a problem. First, remove the cover to the air intake box and the hose that attaches to the plenum. Then loosen the bolts on either side of the plenum and the hose clamp that attaches to the throttle body. Gently wiggle the plenum off of the throttle body. Once that is removed, unsnap the tops of the hose brackets, loosen the hoses from their nests. You will have to remove one of them from a nest on the left side (passenger side) of the engine (where the hose turns to rubber) to get it out of the way. The rest is easy to figure out. REMEMBER TO BLOW OUT ALL THE JUNK INSIDE THE SPARK PLUG HOLE BEFORE REMOVING THE SPARK PLUG, OR IT WILL DROP INTO THE CYLINDER.
Not as easy as an old Chevy 350, but at least you don't need a special $1000.00 tool to do it.
Good Luck
