Message: Having issues with my 2005 Dakota 4wd. It will
randomly go in and out of 4wd and the service 4wd
light will randomly come on and off. Went to leave
home the other day and I needed 4wd (I live at 8200
ft.) and the whole thing was inoperative! Any
thoughts??? Many thanks in advance.

Message: Just curious, did you ever find out your issue? My '05 would randomly shift into 4WD when pulling into parking lots at slow speeds. It vibrates at 40mph ALWAYS and the transfer case would click, SVC 4WD light comes on so i unplugged my transfer case. It still vibrates at 40mph but doesn't shift into 4wd, obviously. I replaced ball joints, upper and lower control arms and tie rod ends. I noticed a slight lubricant leak at the front differential where the CV joint connects but haven't taken it apart yet. lol. I have read that 9/10 times the transfer case is NOT the issue. Just curious to see if you figured out the issue?

Message: Nah. I bought it used with 130,000 miles on it. Just got into the mechanic stuff. My dad is a master mechanic and is helping me. Even without the transfer case plugged in, it still has the same problem. How can it be the transfer case if its not even plugged in?

Message: I can put the fuse back in for the transfer case and switch into 4wd with no problem but the vibration never changes and the clicking goes on and on. Even if I don't have the key in the ignition. Its odd.
