Subject: Starting issues IP: Logged
Message: In July I had the transmission replaced in my Dakota and the
shop also replaced my starter. Ever since then it is sporadic
when it wants to start. I have replaced the starter thinking it
was the solenoid but still the same issue. If I use a screw
driver and jump the starter it will fire right up. What's the
deal???

Message: Check the positive cable going to starter, also
check your grounds
Sounds like a connection issue.

Message: Check the splice in the harness about 4 to 6 inches below the
fusebox. 3 wires to one, red or red /white. This splice corrodes
so redo it. It supplies power to the PCM, fuel pump and
ignition.
