Hey all,
Just got this 2000 4.7, auto, club cab, 17000 miles about 3 wks ago.
When I shift into reverse I get what sounds like a sparking noise from under the truck. This happens each time.. not just occationally.
Also, whenever parking, I come to a stop, shift it into park and there is a small lurch.. almost like the truck wasn't fully stopped, along with a minor klunk sound, actually it makes me think the truck was happy to get out of a gear and into park. Note: this is while parked on a totally flat surface and brake fully engaged.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
(should i take it to a dealer.. or just leave it alone because this is common?)

I know what your saying man, mine does the same thing. To me it sounds like the overrunning clutch in the back of the tranny. It's just a bunch of roller engaging or relaxing.
I have a '98 5.2 with the 44RE. I hope it ain't serious.

I think it means it's about to break, sell t and by a new one LOL.
Actually It's the solenoids in the electronic tranny, if you listen closely it also does it in switching from gear to gear, park to neutral etc.. It also does it when going back into first as you slow down. I didn't hear it till just recently though.
Even the mini vans and all the I'd say 93 and newer cars (I'm talking Chrysler / Dodge / Plymouth)
Normal, just deal with it

Try a full tranny flush with atf+4 or the amsoil universal tranny fluid. The 45rfe tranny in yours has got issues. Oh wait...I have the same one. ; ) I'm going to do mine this weekend. Takes two filters, and capacity is 13quarts.
