Subject: Spark Plug Change IP: Logged
Message: Well as advertised I changed the spark plugs on my 4.7 yesterday, and it was a major PITA. Took about two hours, BUT the dealer wanted $240 and it cost me around $30 for new plugs, so I saved $$$.

Message: Im not familiar with the 4.7 but i know the 5.2 is east to change
spark plugs on. What makes that engine so difficult? are they
hiding behind and under a bunch of stuff?

Message: I guess I should have said what makes it a PITA. You need to remove the air chamber on the throttle body, and flex hose to the filter. disconnect the sensors on the throttle body. Then there are two brackets that need to be removed so you can move the two AC lines out of the way of two of the coil packs. YouTube has a good video of what to do....
Half of your time is spent just getting to the plugs....then you need to put it all back, but HEY much cheaper than a dealer if you have a couple hours to put in.
