Subject: 02 QC 4.7 coolant loss

My dak has almost 160000 on it. In search of a little extra info, my water pump let go a couple months ago. It did get pretty hot as I was only a couple miles from home so it was driven to the house and parked it. It was leaking some coolant around the pump shaft. I replaced the pump and have not had any overheating issues since. However, it is slowly losing coolant. It does have the "normal sludge" on the oil fill cap but the oil is still clean, not milky. The motor still runs fine, no miss firing or anything else like that. Occasionally I get a hint of antifreeze out of the exhaust but not bad or often. The truck has no leaks, just a little oil seeping from the valve cover gaskets Everything seems good with leak test but still suspect a head gasket. I'm already in the process of changing the oil pump and cleaning the pickup screen as my oil pressure has been running lower than it normally does. I bought the truck used and given the condition it was in I suspect poor maintenance by the previous owner. I do all my own work and have access to all tools/equipment necessary. I have been searching and reading through the forums for quite some time and have found a lot of useful information. I'm just wondering if there's anything else I should be checking while I have the motor apart. I want my truck back together as soon as possible but I'd rather address all major issues/could be issues now and will take the time to it right so I'm not backtracking in a few months because of laziness. Any tips or info is greatly appreciates.
