Subject: Trans will not shift IP: Logged
Message: Just changed the trans fluid and filters in my 2000 Dakota,45RFE. Now the thing won't go fwd or rev. When put into drive the RPMs flux a bit like it wants to do something but won't move. I pulled the pan down again and verified both filters were on correctly and refilled with about 5 qts of fluid. Level checks ok on the stick but obviously can't get it hot enough without being able to drive it. I used the Autozone filters and ATF+4 fluid. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Message: Try OEM filters. If changing fluid and filters was the only thing you
did and it was running fine before, then it's probably a filter
problem. When I installed my after market filters my truck drove
fine for a short time and then the trans stopped working. When I
dropped the pan the tube on the filter that is held up with a screw
had come out of it's hole. I was able to reposition it in the hole and
re-tighten the screw to get it to hold but it still didn't fit like the
original.
