Message: Guess I am just going to have to work with my local muffler shop and have a "z-tube" custom bent... If the big names can't get something good out for a reasonable price I will just have to build one!!! I didn't really want to spend that kind of money anyway.

Message: 2000-2002 use the 68mm TB...same size. The only thing you may want to look at is the location of the cruise control. If that can be moved or fits without any modifications...the K&N will fit.

Message: Has anyone seen dyno numbers for the K&N filter charger for the 4.7? Maybe I am wrong but I could have swarn that I saw someone say that there was only a 5HP gain with this addition. That isn't worth the for $250 bucks in my book!
Any thoughts?
Any proof?

Message: I think it may be getting that mystical computer cold air i've heard about. Doesn't look like K&N did that great of a job designing this one. From the way the filter sits it doesn't look like it will get much air at all.

Message: I received my K&N FIPK yesterday and got it installed. It took me roughly 45 min. to install the whole thing and clean everyting up. The hardest part of the install is getting the rubber weatherstriping stuff around the metal filter housing. Once I got everything installed and started my truck up, there was much noise difference at idle. When I took it out driving, you definitely hear the difference when you give it some gas. There is a deeper growl when you start to get on it. I haven't had a chance yet to check for any gas mileage increases. As far as it being worth the money, that is something that is relative to what you want. I have always liked K&N's products and use them on my other toys. If you have the money and want a very reputable product, K&N might be the way to go then. I personaly like the kit and it does seem to make a difference. Once I get a few other mods installed, I am sure I will like it even more!

Message: I've read most of the posts on this, and have seen the pictures on the K&N set up. What I'm wondering is what makes it worth $100+ more than the airraid set up?? Surely it's not the plastic tube from the TB to the filter box. I've heard the stock airhat is pretty efficient as far as air flow. And the Airraid setup is acutally open on the bottom and attatches to stock air box. This allows you to route a hose from airbox to beside the radiator for a source of cool air that doesn't come from under the hood. Just seems like a more logical choice to me, but I own a R/T so what would I know. Oh yeah, my friend has a AWD 4x4 4.7 SLT with the airraid set up and a homemade tube from TB to filter. Has less than $100 invested in total setup and looks like it woudl work better than the K&N, just needs to hose from airbox to beside radiator to complete the setup.

Message: I went to www.volantperformance.com and got their 4.7 application. I paid $215 at www.truckperformance.com and it pretty much kicks ass (in addition to looking cool).
It has an adapter hose that mates it up to the stock throttlebody, but it is about 3.75" o.d. and it also mates right up to my 70mm TB. I didnt have to buy no 4" Z-Tube!! WoooHooo....

Message: i like my Intense Performance Z-tube, apart from some slight reservations about the lack of mounting brackets. it looks really nice and seems to be the best quality of whats out there. otherwise, get the volant. both designs are far above what K&N and Airaid offers.
