I have a 99 Dakota and i noticed when the rear end is rocked side to side there is a clunking sound coming from the hubs just wondering if its bad wheel bearings or something in the diffrental or Axel

i have a 99 Dakota and iv noticed that when i brake hard and come to a complete stop there is a clunk sound coming from the rear end and it feels like there's something in the bed of the truck rolling forward and slamming into the back of the bed but there's nothing back there or in the cab its something in the rear end and i cant figure it out and when i explain the mystery sound to a mechanic they look at me with a blank stair like i'm hearing things wondering if this is something related to my first posted question. HELP!!!
