Message: I am trying to help a friend make a deal on a 91
dodge dakota with a 2.5l and a 5 speed manual trans.
He is wanting to put a 318 v8 out of a 93 dakota in
it. Will the 318 bolt up to the 5 speed? what needs
to be done?

Message: The easiest way would be to go with a carb setup and ditch the PCM. As far as the 5 speed from the 4 cylinder, the bellhousing may bolt up to the 318 but it will be short lived behind it. Too much torque for that little trans.

Message: I have a 1991 Dakota with a 318v8 over 180k still runs strong. I just want better gas mileage, and was thinking of replacing it with a 2.5L or some other 4Cyl. or any that would fit the transmission bolt pattern and motor mounts. Is this possible?

Message: You'd be better off just selling the '91 and buying
a Tacoma or Isuzu if all you want is better mileage.
