Subject: Power Window not working?
IP: Logged

Message:
I just got a 2008 Dodge Dakota 4.7 8cyl crew cab in February this year and I'm having a problem with the power windows on the driver and passenger front windows. Both the windows were working sometimes and then sometimes not :( but now my driver window won't work at all. I can tell it is drawing power (a/c boggs down) when I press the button, but I don't hear the window motor or anything like that. Sometimes I think I hear a beep but I'm not sure.

I think it's either the switch or the motor but I'm not sure, before I buy either part anyone have any ideas? Thank You! :) Reesa

The older models had what they called "Body Control Module" that controlled a lot of the optional equipment like p/w, p/l etc.. They would act up and display the same symptoms. Don't know if the later models used that or not.

Thank you, I don't know if it has a body control module I'm gonna look that up. But we just replaced the master switch on the drivers door and that didn't help.

Try running power directly to the window motors from
the battery. If they work that would eliminate the
motors being bad. Check the relay(s) and fuse(s). It
could be called the CTM - Central Timing Module.

Try holding the switch on and wiggling the wires that go from the front of the door to the pillar post (probably encased in rubber) if this works you have a broken wire in this area

You can also use a test light. You'll have to open your door up though to get at the switch and motor

I have a 2004 club cab... My passenger window switch
wouldn't work all the time. I tried to replace passenger switch
and it would still work off and on. Found out the power goes
thru the drivers switch. Replaced driver side switch and
passenger side works every time now. Something to try...
Good luck

My old boss had a 05 quad cab, and I have an 03
quad cab. Both have the exact same issue. Only
the drivers controls work, and no other controls.
I'm going to start tearing stuff apart with my
multi meter and see if I can figure this problem
out.

Having similar issues with my 04 dakota
ext cab. I replaced the fuses and the
master switch on the driver side the locks
still work but they did before I changed
the panel back to square one I still have
no clue why my windows don't work. Also
not hearing the window motors so I'm
assuming it's a power issue. Could really
use the help before I put more money into
it.
