Subject: 4WD IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, I have a 2001 V8 4WD that has a habit of automatically
switching to 4wd even when the knob is in the 2wd position.
This is clearly annoying as its terrible for the truck to drive on
dry pavement so I have to repeatedly turn on and off the car
trying to get it to reset to 2wd.
I've considered trying to fix this by installing some manual
locking hubs onto the front wheel so I wouldn't have to worry
about this situation. Is this possible for my model? Has anyone
successfully done this? what hubs did you use? I've had the Warn
brand recommended but from their website it looks like it's not
possible to do it for my model.... I'd like to make the car more
reliable cause the electrical switch is definitely shot. Any help
would be appreciated.

Message: I just replaced my linkage rod, which connects the floor console shifter to the transfer case. There is also an adjustment procedure for this. Get under the truck and take a look, maybe something came loose or just needs adjustment. I would in no way way try to modify the hubs at this point.
