Subject: 94 5.2 wont idle steady IP: Logged
Message: I blew a trans line which threw oil all over the
engine compartment. Truck started running rough.
Figured ok, the coil is soaked in oil. Fixed the
line, cleaned up the oil but the truck still won't
idle or run right. RPM's range from 200-800, foot
off the throttle. Feels like it's missing till
about 3000 rpm, and seems to clear up at that
point. Coil tests good, new plugs, wires, cap,
rotor and pickup in the distributor. Cleaned up
all the splices as well, no change. Then we
noticed that with an inline spark tester, the
spark goes away for a few seconds. Tested this on
3 different plugs. Same result on all of them,
spark goes away, RPM drops, spark comes back RPM
races up to about 800 RPM and levels off until it
happens again. The PCM did get some trans oil on
it. I have not pulled the plug off of that yet,
but it doesn't look wet around the PCM connector.
I will be checking that this morning. The oil on
the PCM seems to be below the main connector going
to it. Since the PCM controls the spark, and that
is intermittent, I'm thinking bad PCM. Any other
ideas? Maybe a bad crank position sensor?

Message: i have the same problem with my truck. 5.2L Idrove through a i though was small puddle but truned out it was deeper then i thought and sucked watering into the motor, truck wouldnt start after, after a couple of days i started it up it ran alright but ever since then my oil pressure drops and comes baack up. i had it into the mechanic and he said it was a sensor. then it started burning alot of oil, around 5L A month.my cousin has the same motor but his plenum gasket went, so i changed my intakes gaskets and the oil pressure still drops and it still burns oil and idles weird and now its about it get swapped for a 360 or a beefed up 318.
