Message: I am looking at purchasing a 2002 Dakota Sport 4x4 Quad Cab with the 4.7l V8 but it has fairly high mileage (175k). I can't find the fuel economy on it but I saw that the V6 models only gets 15/19 mpg. I also know the 2007+ Dakotas have a high output 4.7l engine option that has more hp and 15/20 mpg. How difficult would an engine swap be? Would the transmission have to be changed too? Thanks.
