 Subject: seizing brakes and steering in 92 kota

So i have a 92' Dodge Dakota, and just recently i went to start it, and it came on quietly. I put it into drive but it wouldnt go anywhere, then the brake pedal became rock hard so i turned it back off, then started again. Same problem happend a few more times. When i finally got it moving a few feet, the steering wheel seized up as well, didn't lock, just became really stiff. then the engine got really quiet, and the brake pedal became stiff as well and i was forced to shut it off. i was told it might be the belts, but they seemed fine to me. any other ideas??
