Subject: 92 electrical dakota IP: Logged
Message: 92 dakota runs then dies may go for hunred miles or 0 and die when just ideling or not.may start back up or not. 5.2 L replaced cap rotor and pickup coil.found no spark to coil.can go out when cold somtimes starts sometimes dont.same when its been running and shut it off.changed auto shutdown relay didnt help.any suggestions

Message: Check the splice that is about 4-6 inches below the underhood fusebox. 3 wires into one, red or red/white wires. Redo that splice.

Message: daddio thanks for the responce but that wasn't it.i redid the splice by soldering the four red white wires even though the original splice looked good.any other ideas?

Message: i had similar problems before and it turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor. Check and make sure the plug is not corroded and making good connections, and then make sure that the wires have not been pulled on, resulting in separation from the sensor. The sensor is located on the very back of the block, right behind the passenger side cylinder head.

Message: well that doesn't seem to be it either.i replaced the crank sensor with a new one still the same problem.ran fine for awhile then parked went to start and wouldn't.i guess i'll try a new computer.don't no what else it could be.

Message: curly i did check for codes by turning the key off and on the two it had i was told by a mechanic should not cause the problem.i tried the new computer seems to be working so far my fingers crossed hoping it was the problem thanks for the help.
