 Subject: 98 dakota died

i have a 98 dakota sport 4x4 with the 318. i was
driving down the road the other night when the
engine shut down. i coasted it into a parking lot
and tried to start it without success. it has
lights and acts like it is about to start but just
doesnt. there is a half tank of gas in it and when
i turn the key i can hear the fuel pump wind. i
checked the valve on the injector rail and it
appears to have gas as well. i checked all fuses
and all seems well there. please post any
suggestions would be appreciated ty

it appears that it is not throwing any codes when i
put the computer on it

changed coil and still nothin. swapped out computer
with a spare i have and nothin there as well

Try checking codes using the key on/off trick.

Sounds like the spark detonator bearing went bad.
