Subject: Shifting problem IP: Logged
Message: I have a 96 Dakota that I swapped a 93 engine and tranny into after problems with the ones in the 96. I had to use the computer from the 93 to be compatible with the tranny. I am now having trouble with the tranny shifting into 4th gear and the push button OD is not working. I took it to a reputable transmission shop who told me I needed a new computer and OD switch. I purchased those and had them installed. Still has the same problem. Now they are telling me it is a short somewhere in the wiring. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I don't want to and can't afford to keep throwing money into it just to find out it's something else. Is there a better way to diagnose the real problem? Thanks for any help you can give!

Message: Also, the tranny shop is not positive it's a short. They are guessing. I spent $300 for the new computer and another $40 on a new switch. On top of that I have their labor costs and I'm not any where close to getting the problem resolved. Please help!

Message: Sir,
You got ripped off by the reputable transmission shop.
There all reputable till they work on your truck.
They all know what's wrong and can fix it before you hand them the money. Once they have the money the games begin!
