Subject: 2004 4.7L Dakota Issues IP: Logged
Message: I just recently purchased my first Dakota and am wondering if
there are any specific issues I should worry about on it and
the Dodges. So far I have no issues except it seems like the
power steering is sometimes very easy to turn and other
times takes some effort.

Message: About the only thing I can tell you is to be religeous with oil changes. Use synthetic oils, change it often and don't go over. These 4.7's are touchy and if not properly maintained develop sludge which causes bearing failure or loss of oil pressure...so maintain your vehicle.
Beyond that enjoy it, they are good trucks.

Message: Ah, thanks for the advice, I also hear an irritating ticking while
it is idling in Park and idea if this something to be concerned
about as you can only hear it outside the cab?
