Subject: over-revving after water pump replacemen IP: Logged
Message: changed out water pump and fan clutch a week ago. since then, when engine is still cold in the :am it's running high rpms before changing gears. Sounds kinda like a beginner learning to drive a manual tranny. seems like after it warms up it doesn't do it. It may be coincidental, but it didn't start happening until it ran hot with the water pump problem. I was thinking I may have left some electrical disconnected, but I checked and didn't see anything. Any ideas?

Message: It's most likely the fan clutch. You may sometimes
hear the loud "roar" when you first start but it
should stop fairly fast when cold. If the engine is
hot you'll hear it.
Try to spin the fan when the engine is cold. It
should move easily but spin less than 5 times.
