 Subject: 99 Dakota Sport Shifting issues

I have a 99 Dodge Dakota Sport with 127k miles. about half the time I make a left turn the transmission will not change from 1st to second and drop into neutral. I need to let up on the gas and pump the gas for it change gears. If I keep my foot on the gas it will slam hard into gear.
Is the tranny going or is this something to do with the throttle cable?
All help is appreciated!

Tranny fluid levels are good. I'm bringing it in for a tranny service at the dodge center so we'll see what they say!
