I am having headlight and tail light issues, which seems to be an problem with most dakotas. I have replaced the multiswitch a couple of times which works for a while then starts to f-up again. any ideas what would be causing the switch to continuously fail?

i changed the the swith assembly in the stearing column because i was burning out the head light switch and the connecter i replaced the coonector to the head light switch also and under the dash under each left and right kick panel i cleaned the the grounds and out side under the hood i cleaned the grounds that go to the lighting harness ,try that when i pulled the switch out of steering column i saw the contacts were green
