Subject: Transmission line leak

My 1995 Dakota SLT 4x4 has had a slow leak where the transmission line enters the radiator. Rather, it leaks an inch in front of the radiator, where the quick-disconnect is. Last week it started leaking badly, so I finally broke down and disconnected the quick-disconnect and then unscrewed the rubber hose section from the steel line beside the oil-pan. I replaced the rubber o-rings in the quick-connect end of it and reassembled it, but it still leaks, and I cannot figure out from where. I used Teflon tape on the threads when I screwed the rubber hose back into the steel line, and that area appears to be fine. However, it still appears to be leaking from the quick-connect and at a good rate, one drop every two or three seconds.

Does anybody have any clue as to how I can fix this? The dealer, as well as everybody else who sells auto parts, will not sell me just the section of hose with the quick-connect. Everybody wants to sell me the steel line and rubber hose all the way from the radiator back to the transmission! There has to be an easier way to fix this than a $60 set of lines...

How about a good home A/C shop?
They just might be able to help if they know exactly what part you need. You may have to take them the pieces.
