Subject: Oil Pressure IP: Logged
Message: Ive noticed alot of issues with oil pressure. Im having issues of mine, just every now and then, since I installed an automatic start, starting up with no pressure (according to the dash). Now, I know this cant be right, because i start it in the house and it runs 15minutes like this, the engine runs smooth and fine. 15 Min in wouldnt it have blown? Anyway, Im replacing the sending unit tomorrow, (Napa calls it an oil pressure switch, correct?) and I need some info on where this is, and, does it drain the oil when I pull it out? I have a 2003 Dakota, 4.7lt 4x4. Thanks! (Also, any opinions on cleanin the motor with diesel fuel? My father used kerosene, but ive heard of fuel.. )

Message: You can try the sending unit, but putting a
mechanical gauge on the engine itself is a better
idea to diagnose the problem. You'll actually
know what you have.
The senders can fail. Another possibility is a
problem with the gauge cluster. It could be
related to your remote start install.
You will lose a few drops of oil, not much. It
should be located just above the oil filter.
