Subject: which 4.7 IP: Logged
Message: My dad just bought himself a 2007 dakota slt 4-door rwd. It's a 4.7l automatic. I'm trying to figure out a little more about the vehicle.
How do I know which version of the 4.7? If I understand it right they have the base model (230ish hp) or the HO (260ish hp).
Does the 4.7 always have the 545RFE 5 speed automatic or could it have the 4 speed? My 2005 Liberty CRD has the 545RFE and is known to have a weak torque converter. Is that an issue with the dakota as well?
Are there any well known maintenance issues he should look out for?
He's pretty dedicated to making his vehicles last. He just traded in his 1999 3.9 manual dakota after 250,000 miles.
Thank you for any help!

Message: Look under the hood at the sticker for what engine it has.
It'a rated as a 5 speed auto, I'm not going to go into here.
I drive a manual, I start capfires and fireplaces with 'sticks'.
