I have a 1997 V8 Dakota and have not had heat since I tried to stop a small coolant leak using a stop leak product.

I beleive the stop leak product did nothing but clog the heater core.

I used Dan's method (His post of 11/19/02) yesterday. It cost me about 3 dollars for the hose adapter and took me about 30 minutes to backflush the heater core. Now, I once again have heat.

I flushed the core until I had clear water filling my bucket from the the intake side.

I was amazed at the small amount of material that was clogging the core. I tried to insert a photo of the small amount "gunk" I trapped with a piece of window screen when emptying my bucket but was unable to do so.

Many thanks to the folks who run this post and to Dan for his "quick" (and very cheap) fix.
