Subject: anti-freeze disappearing?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an 01 dakota with a 360. I love it but it seems like I am getting into a lot of problems since it hit 140,000miles.
1. Starting issue. I have to crank it 2 or 3 times before it will fire up and keep running. Any solutions?
2. Engine light is on, had it plugged in a couple times. The main code that keeps coming up is a vacuum leak. We have replace hoses and even the gas cap. Any solutions?
3. Newest problem is that she is losing anti-freeze constantly. Can't find a leak. However my oil level has increased; is it one of the heads? or something else?

1. Fuel filter?
2. You missed a hose?
3. Well. Now we know where the antifreeze went.

1. fuel filter was the next thing we were going to change and then if that didn't solve it we were going to replace the fuel pump.
2. Replaced all the hoses this summer didn't solve the problem.
3. we are going to try a block and head gasket sealer. what would you suggest besides that to fix the low coolant and high oil?

Pull the plugs out and check them 1 at a time.

How does the oil on the stick look?

well your headgasket is shot. its blowing anti-freeze into the oil causing the oil level to rise. and DON'T use sealer. it will plug up the radiator, heater core and everything else. just take it in and get the gaskets replaced. i had the same issue with my 360 and the person who had it before me used sealer and i had to get a new radiator and heater core along with new head gaskets cuz the sealer plugged everything up
