I have an 05 dakota automatic V8 that I'm trying to figure out an issue with. The transmission acts like it is in neutral in every gear. It happened suddenly and I hadn't had an issue before or any slippage. It happened while driving down the highway and just started revving.
The fluid is still clean and looks new, could the torque converter have failed? any other ideas?

Any updates? My '02 went in the shop yesterday for slippage issues and the call came today saying the codes point to the tranny, the dipstick shows metal shavings and smells burnt. Telling me $350 to tear into it and figure out if it's an overhaul or full replacement.
