 Subject: sparratic idle and fault code...

i have an 02 dakota quad cab sport v8. it started idle high intermittently about 2 months ago, then about 3 weeks ago threw a code- P0442-evaporative emission system small leak/no flow condition. the probable causes were bad fuel cap, evap canister or hose cracked, purge or vent solenoid defective, or vacuum leak at engine. i am confident i can fix any of these myself, but i was hoping to eliminate some of my searching under the hood by asking a couple of questions here. where is the evap canister located, and were are the purge and vent solenoids located. the gas cap is the last thing i am gonna try as i dont think that would cause the sparratic revving of the engine. my best guess is that the problem is one of the three other possibilities. any insight would be great. thanks...

Evap canister is inside the driver side frame rail forward of gas tank.
Purge and vent solenoids are in the engine compartment on the driver side. Follow the rubber hose from the throttle body.

if it idles high than it's more than likely a cracked vacuum hose going to the evap system
