WTF
I hope in 20 years we aren't driving Bin Laden Sedans, Afgan coupes, and Teliban trucks!

I will never drive a Bin Ladin Sedan, lol

Message: Hey some people define themselves by more than what they drive. For us as car(truck) guys It just seems obvious. I think a lot of folks who drive imports give no more thought to it than people who wear shoes made in Malasia. Also alot of Foreign (sp?) "Branded" cars are actually made up of a high percentage of local (read US) content.
P.S. Not many Japanese cars are named after leaders who lost the war. Kind of like no German Manufacturer makes a "Himmler" or a "Hitler". For the record I'd never own a Bin Laden either, I don't think Dodge would ever make one.
The most important content when determining patriotism is the contents of your head, and your heart.

Message: It's more then just being made in the USA like some Honda, but made by union brothers and sisters with the profits staying here and being spent here. I like to give a break to stuff made in Canada as they always have and always will (except in South Park) great neighbors. The Brits are a hell of a freindly country to us as well, and are ready to put their own troops along side ours to fight these cowards. Enough of that here is a list of 2001 models made by UAW hands:

I don't see anything Honda there...

Message: Not a chance the dakota has way more american parts in it. Most of them are made in canada and USA. These are not the kind of parts that you open the hood and look at. These are little thing like brackets and stuff you will never see. In canada (where i live) Every tool and dye factory is only making parts for chrysler, gm, ford, and mercedies. No honda. Honda is still using a lot of japanies parts.
Just think about it. Every screw every bolt, bracket you name it. It all has to come from somewere and they would be stupid to import all that. 70% is american parts.

Message: It is tough to know what really is "made in America". During recent motorcycle shopping, I was determined to buy American (Harley)..but Honda motorcycles have a higher U.S. parts content than Harley. Harley is one of the biggest flag wavers of any company, but check out any harley shop and look at the parts and see where they are made..almost all the components are made in Taiwan or China.

Buy American, buy imported. It's all tastes and preferences. It doesn't make you any more American than what you look like. An American is an American. And that is what makes America, America.

Message: I am putting my fire resistant underware on right now! 1)The top 10 selling Toyota cars and trucks are assembled in America by UAW union boys and grils with over 70% of the parts sourced her in the USA as well GM, Ford and Dodge can not say that! 2) I drive a German truck I guess the rocket scientist on this board still have not reliased that Daimler Chysler is a German owned company and all profits and go back to the old country!3) People buy import because for the most part American brand vechiles are piles of junk and are built like crap when you compare them to their import competiors. American brands only make sense if you get rid of them within 3-5 years and 36,000-65,000 miles if kept longer they tend to nickel and dime you to death. 4) American companys only invest in Canada , Mexico ,Korea, China.......The only people that are offering to create jobs in America are forign companys!! Even UAW people are holding on to their cars and trucks from the early 1980's. I know I work with them every single day of the year. The reason the forgin competitors are wining market share is because they embraced Edward Deming's Total Quality Management principals while Detroit laughed at them. Detroit sent him to Japan to teach them his ideas while Detroit kept turning out piles of $hit. In a market economy creme rises to the top. GM and Ford the last truely American brands know what they must do to win but will never do it. The shareholder driven system of decision makeing will not allow a true investment in quality comitment. They will spend a fortune to design a car or truck then fill it with the cheapest darn plastic they can get their hands on. They will put all kinds of content in the cockpit that will break before the car or truck hits 65,000 miles. They will have a 400HP engine and a tranny that will not hold up. They will build a $40,000 car that has sqeaks and rattles at 20,000 miles.
Flaggs are cheap! Vote for people that want to have a strong military to show you support for this country. Retire from you UAW job so a young man with a family can get a job!!! Or insist that our autocompanys build a great product instead of cheap p.o.s.

Message: Ummm...guess who bought the former Chrysler Corporation? All this is academic. It's been a long time since any vehicle on 4 wheels had a country's pedigree. The '85 Dodge mini-van I owned once had French Citroen half-shafts and German Bosch wiper motors. However, I'm proud that the GenIII I purchased on 9/15/01 was built in the USA, unlike my Canadian GenII. Did jalapenos make the 5.7 HEMI hotter?

Message: yea, sandman is correct. for those of you driving the 4.7 (and soon 5.7l), who do you think designed this motor. Mercedes! You guys think the Hemi is some sort of awesome idea that chrysler developed? no. the hemispherical design has been used for years in bmws and mercedes (and prolly audi, not sure tho). pull the head on any bmw and notice the flow characteristics and placement of sparkplug. Granted, dodge had the hemi a long time ago, and it worked great. unfortunately they didn't stick to what worked great! They stuck to what was affordable to mass produce. It's about time they finally started paying attention to detail. I'm sure we're gonna see some awesome things come from the marriage of Daimler/Chrysler. The japanese influence is gone! I Welcome RWD to all chrysler sedans! Finally something that can compete with a mustang without having a 6.5' bed. :O) God bless german engineering and American muscle.
Take'r easy!
