Subject: Late Shift out of 4WD?

Hey everyone,
Question for all you long time Dakotas owners out there who know a hell alot more about them than me.

On occassion I lock into 4wd to get through this one segment of road that I go over sometimes. I turn on the 4WD going about 5 mph and then have to come to a stop due to the road. Once I get through the rough part I accelerate and put it back into 2wd. I accelerate up to about 35 mph up an incline, and after about .1~.2 miles it clunks and jars (kind of like hitting a big ass pot hole)...it happening about 50% of the time when I do go through here

Is this the 4wd taking awhile to disenage, and by the time it does I'm already above the speed I should be switching from 4-2wd making it a hard switch?

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks, Pure

Make sure you don't have mismatched tires on your truck. Even different brands showing the same size on the sidewall can actually vary a LOT. I have Coopers mixed with Goodyears, all 265/70r16 but major bind occurs. Gotta get the rest of the Coopers!
