Subject: loud chirping noise IP: Logged
Message: I have an extremly loud noise coming from my engine compartment when I am driving. It sounds like a 1/2 ton cricket. there is no noise when I am in park and rev the engine and it happens in every gear (D,2,1) and stops when I throw it in neutral. I have checked the belt and pulley's and as far as I can tell nothing is wrong. any suggestions would be apperciated. by the way its a 97 dodge dak with a 5.2 if that helps any.

Message: How many miles on this truck?
Is the belt tight? Looking worn?
(Possibly tensioner &/or Tensioner pulley)

Message: there's about 170,000 miles; the belt is fairly new with no sign of wear.
