Subject: oil pressure guage IP: Logged
Message: I have a 02 Dakota 4.7L V8 and the oil pressure guage is acting wierd. Last week coming home from work the guage read fine in town. once I got onto the highway it read fine, but after a couple of miles the guage will slowly lower to the second line from the bottom and stay their (still in the normal level but really low). It never goes below that line. Got into the town where I live and it read normal again. Never had a loss of power or any other indication something was wrong other than the guage.
Then this morning I left for work and the guage read correctly all 25 miles to work. Its full of freshly changed oil, so Is my guage or sending unit bad?
What do you think?

Message: The gauge needle is positioned by the ECU, so the gauge is just fine. As suggested above, pressure sending unit could be faulty.
