Please help.My 2000 Dakota 99,000 miles has engine check light on,codes say engine very lean, new O2 sensor with dedicated ground for it only. It will melt the catalytic converter in less than 50 miles. already put 2 on it. I am at a loss. Mechanic at a loss. last code said all 8 cylinders misfired at once.

Have you verified that the other O2 sensors are working correctly? there are more than 1. Check your spark plugs to see if it is actually running rich, a lean condition should not destroy your Cats. you probably have a wire shorted to ground on the sensor wiring which might tell the computer its lean as the sensor can read which means it will dump in as much fuel as possible to compensate and kill your cat.
