Hey gang,
Got a 02 sport 4x4 stick.100k miles.Beside a CAI and a MagnaFlow Exhaust. how can i squeeze more HP from this engine. What are the ECU limitations?....thanks.

I have a 2000 Dakota Sport, i am pretty sure i have
the 4.7, i am not sure tho. is there any way to for
sure tell which engine it is just by looking at it?
also, do they make a manuel for a 4.7? and is it
pretty good? i want something to replace my auto,
but i want it to be strong. thanks!

Take your stock throttle body that 68mm plates and a 65mm taper and have it bored out to a true 68mm should add enough with the CAI and muffler to give you your 30 hp increase.

According to my VIN the says its a 4.7.To my knowledge ,Base, SXT, Sport, and SLT are just trim packages and have nothing to do with the engine in the truck.

Daniel: If you want to swap out your Automatic for the stick its a big job and costly. Would be cheaper in the long run to just find a truck that already has one....I have a manual trans in my V8 4x4 and like it very much.

I tought the SXT was only a V6.

A 'Sport', defintely comes in a 4.7.

dakota pilot, try looking into a set of gears for the truck that also helps alot. And Daniel, I own a 2000 dak sport quad cab 4.7,5speed manual,with 3:55 gears and 185000 miles, single in dual out series 40 flowmaster and no other modifications. It can still on occations smoke em it third gear

wow, that sounds awesome. yeah, i can be driving in 4 with my automatic, and if i punch it it will go to first gear and smoke the tires at 50mph... i love this truck! i am hoping to someday put a 12 valve cummins and dana 60-70's in it. :)
