Message: This morning I started my truck and put it in reverse. It felt like the brakes were completely locked up. I had to hit the gas pretty hard to get my truck to move at all, and when it did move, it made a pretty loud grinding noise. Are my brakes locked up? I'm guessing either the brakes are locked up, or there is something wrong with the 4x4, because it kind of felt like when the truck turns sharply with the 4x4 on.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jason Jones

Message: it would turn easier in 4wheel because the front
wheels are now pulling
did you by chance have the parking brake on when
this happened?

Message: I would say your transfer case is fubar. the grinding is probably the internals. put the truck up on jack stands and try to turn the wheels, this will eliminate brakes locked up. also you can check to see if the front turns without problems from the transfer case. i am betting you broke the chain in the transfer case....it happens if you drove it on dry pavement in 4wd or if it was towed incorrectly.
