Subject: Front end rattle IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 Dakata club cab, 2wd, 4.7 auto. I've been chasing a rattle noise in the front end (driver side), noticable when I hit bumps. I couldn't find anything obvious with control arm bushings or ball joints. The stabilizer bar connection only has half the rubber boot but it seems tight. I replaced the wheel bearing/hub about 6 months ago. I noticed the same hub has some play in it. I didn't measure the play but I'd guess 3/32". The hub on the passenger side (hasn't been replaced) has some play, but only half of what I see on the driver side. Should there be any play in hub?? If so, how much play is ok. The bearing isn't making any noise while driving.
Any help would be appreciated.
